Coordinate Explorers

How-To Guides

Here are some guides about how to use the various applications here:
  1. 2D Cartesian Element Explorer
  2. 2D Polar Element Explorer
  3. 3D Cartesian Element Explorer
  4. 3D Cyldindrical Element Explorer
  5. 3D Spherical Element Explorer

Two Dimensional Explorers

The applications below let you explore the area elements in two 2-D coordinate systems. Use the sliders at the bottom of the frame to adjust the coordinates of the area and the size of the area.
  1. Cartesian coordinates
  2. Polar coordinates

Three Dimensional Explorers

The applications below let you explore the volume elements in three 3-D coordinate systems.

User Instructions

Use the sliders at the bottom of the frame to adjust the coordinates of the volume and the size of the volume increments. By default, if you click and drag in the display window you can rotate the diagram to get a better view of the volume and area elements. Right click on the display and a menu will appear. The most useful are options:
  1. Rotate, orbit: Click and dragging in the display will rotate the view.
  2. Scale : Click and dragging in the display will zoom and unzoom the view.
Right click and select a different menu option to change the interaction mode.

Explorers
