Current Maser Research

The work of the Jodrell Bank maser group is diverse and tackles a number of astrophysical problems ranging from individual star birth and death to galactic patterns of star-formation. Current research areas include:

  • Masers as signposts of stellar evolution

  • Magnetic fields in star-forming regions

  • Magnetic fields in circumstellar envelopes

  • Methanol masers and star-formation in the Milky Way

  • Masers in external galaxies, starburst galaxies and active galactic nuclei

  • Physics of cosmic masers

  • Developments of techniques in spectral line VLBI data reduction and visualization
