IAU Travel Grants

The IAU will support attendance at this Focus Meeting with travel grants. The process is governed by item 3.9.2 of the Rules and Guidelines for IAU Scientific Meetings.

How the process works

Travel grant applications are submitted directly to the Scientific Organising Committee (SOC) of the 33rd IAU General Assembly and reviewed by the IAU Secretariat. Around the beginning of May 2027, the IAU Assistant General Secretary and General Secretary will forward to the Focus Meeting SOC a list of grant applications relevant to this meeting. The SOC will then rank the applications, and this ranking will be taken into account by the IAU when allocating the grants.

Eligibility

Priority is typically given to:

  • Astronomers from IAU member countries with limited access to travel funding
  • PhD students and early-career researchers
  • Applicants who have submitted an abstract for a contributed talk or poster at the Focus Meeting

How to apply

Travel grant applications are made through the IAU General Assembly registration system. Further details and the application link will be provided once the GA registration opens. The SOC will be in touch with more information in the first quarter of 2027.
