Partnership

Concept for the 64m SRT

Concept for the 64m Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT). The multi-beam spectroscopic systems being developed in the FARADAY programme will be used on this telescope.

All four of the European partners in this proposal: University of Manchester, Jodrell Bank Observatory (JBO); Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (IRA) Stichting ASTRON ; Torun Centre for Astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus University (TCfA)) are involved in the operation of large national radio telescopes. The Australian associate partner operates the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF). All have long experience in the design of radio receivers and their associated software and ATNF has begun to incorporate MMIC amplifiers in its receivers and has an operational multi-beam receiver. While all partners will be involved to some extent in all four sub-projects the development of MMICs for horn arrays will be principally undertaken by JBO, ATNF and IRA; the phased array development will be led by ASTRON in cooperation with ATNF while the software effort will be led by TCfA in cooperation with ATNF
