Live from Jodrell Bank on Saturday 23rd June, featuring Elbow and supprting acts, was a huge success. The event was attended by around 12,000 people and the reviews and write-ups of the day and evening have been overwhelmingly positive, for example (as of 25/6/2012):

Photographs of the event can be found in the Live from Jodrell Bank archive.

The Science Arena was a great success – we had over 80 scientists and researchers  talking about their work – including members of the University of Manchester Photon Physics, Graphene and Particle Physics research groups (the latter in a special STFC exhibition about the Large Hadron Collider), Bridget (Astrium’s Mars Rover), the Wellcome Trust Olympic Sports Science exhibition In the Zone 2012, Alan Turing Sunflowers, Manchester Girl Geeks and more.

Of course there was a very popular Jodrell Bank stall and a programme of talks on our astrophysics research in the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre Events Space. We even had a live video link from the stage to  Paranal in Chile, site of the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope.

We were all extremely disappointed to have to cancel Sunday's event featuring Paul Weller and supporting acts. We are particularly upset for those who were looking forward to attending the event but extremely adverse weather conditions left no alternative. The rain began as Elbow took the stage and continued throughout the night leaving already sodden ground conditions incapable of supporting another large event.

A huge number of people put a lot of work into Live from Jodrell Bank 2012 and we are very grateful to them all.
