The Future for Research Careers

We are living in interesting times for the development of research careers. Framework Programme 7 (FP7) will radically impact upon the face of European research; leading research institutes are becoming ever more research – and research income – focused; and changes in student numbers and funding are changing the responsibility for university staff to link research and teaching responsibilities.

Such factors raise issues for the researcher looking to plan their career in turbulent times such as:

This session will begin with an address from Raffaelle Liberali who is Director for the Human Factor, Mobility and Marie Curie activities at the Directorate-General for Research at the European Commission who will over an overview of current developments of a European level.
