About Me
Education History
I spent four years as an undergraduate (major:
low-termpature superconductivity) in the
physics department in the University of Science and
Technology of China, USTC .
I then went to
Princeton Unversity .
and spent four memorable years in the
Dept. of
Astrophysical Sciences under the CUSPEA programme sponsored by the Nobel Prize winner TD Lee.
I did my PhD thesis with
Bohdan Paczynski (who recently passed away on April 2007)
on
gamma-ray bursts
and
gravitational lensing .
After my graduate student years, I moved to
Harvard-Smithsonian Center
for Astrophysics for three years, as a Harvard-Smithsonian postdoctoral fellow.
I then moved to the Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) in
Garching in Germany as a long-term postdoctoral fellow. My four years at
MPA have been
very productive and enjoyable.
I have been at
Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics
at Manchester University in UK since Jan. 2000.
