M16 - the Eagle Nebula

Description: M16, the Eagle Nebula, lies in Serpens Caput, and is only visible at Keele during the short summer nights. It is a young cluster of stars (at lower left) forming in the middle of a dust cloud. The dust is illuminated and shows brightly here, while the dust in shadow obscures the background stars.
