Andrew Markwick

AJMK, with original left leg.
I'm a lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy. My main research interest is astrochemistry.
I did my Ph.D. at UMIST with Tom Millar, graduating in 2000, and I have since worked at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View CA, and at the University of Virginia and NRAO in Charlottesville, USA.
I teach Mathematics I to the first year physics undergraduates, in the autumn term. As such I am one of the first lecturers the new undergraduates encounter. Hopefully that is not a bad thing ;)... On Thursdays I can be found in the first year laboratory.
I'm a keen cyclist among other things. You can read about my exploits, although there's not been much action recently since my accident... One day I will write a detailed description and discussion of that, to help other people recover from getting hit by a car. But I want to wait until I've completely recovered before I do.
