You are here: Home > Visitor Centre > Meteor Detector > RMOB archive JBOMD - Data Archive ==================== This directory (http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/viscen/meteor/rmob/) contains the data files produced by Jodrell Bank Observatory's Meteor Detector (JBOMD) in the standard RMOB format. The system went online in April 2007 and started logging in November. For more information regarding the system, please see the website at http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/viscen/meteor/ RMOB-latest.dat - raw output from Spectrum Lab, includes some checks jbomd_mmyyyyrmob.txt - RMOB formatted data for a month given by the filename (mmyyyy) jbomd_latest_rmob.txt - RMOB formatted data for the current month jbomdb_mmyyyyrmob.txt - RMOB formatted data for a given month for the lower channel jbomdb_latest_rmob.txt - RMOB formatted data for the current month for the lower channel The RMOB format contains the counts per hour in a matrix with hour along the top and day of the month down the side. For more information on RMOB, see http://visualrmob.free.fr/ The RMOB files here are generated from the raw SpectrumLab output using a custom perl script. Colorgramme plots are produced *for the upper channel only* from the latest data for the current month using Colorgramme RMOB Lab v 1.5 and automatically uploaded every hour to http://radio.data.free.fr/ where data are available from several observers. An archive of these plots is also available at http://visualrmob.free.fr/articles.php?lng=en&pg=28 SpectrumLab script ------------------ The script which takes care of the counting in SpectrumLab is based on one of the sample scripts that comes with the program. It includes modifications to restart on the hour in the event of a reboot, reset the clock at midnight to account for timing drift (this is typically between four and eight seconds in any 24 hour period), and attempts to follow a drifting transmitter (the ability to produce counts for a second channel was removed when Bantiger ceased transmissions). The datafiles that are produced are stored locally, then rewritten in the RMOB standard format by a simple perl script which runs once an hour before being uploaded to this archive. If you would like to use these data, please let us know. mkargo 20071120 As of May 2008 I am no longer based at Jodrell.
