Jodrell Bank Observatory![]() Jodrell Bank Observatory is part of the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Manchester. The observatory carries out research and instrument development in areas ranging from the evolution of stars to the origin of the universe. On behalf of the UK's Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council it also operates the nationwide MERLIN network of radio telescopes which provides high resolution images of astronomical phenomena.
